ThermiVA™ is an older technlogy requiring 3 procedures.  Newer devices such as the Viveve use the same radiofrequency, but with cooling which allows for a single 30 minute procedure.  The energy to heat the vaginal tissue either externally or internally to stimulate the production of collagen and increase the sensitivity of the vaginal walls. This minimally invasive vaginal rejuvenation procedure takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. The radiofrequency of the ThermiVA™ is different than fractional CO2 laser technology or radiofrequency with cryogen. Fractional CO2 laser and radiofrequency with cryogen treatments are able to achieve higher temperatures within the mucosal lining of the vagina, which is typically more effective in stimulating the cells needed to produce new collagen. While ThermiVA™ is effective for many patients, it is important to note that the results are not as long-lasting as fractional CO2 laser and radiofrequency with cryogen treatments, such as Geneveve™ by Viveve, FemiLift™, and FemTouch™.
